NWS: EF-1 tornado hit Beavercreek

BEAVERCREEK, OH (FOX19) -

A small, weak tornado touched down in this suburban Dayton city Tuesday night, the National Weather Service in Wilmington announced early Wednesday.

The EF-1 tornado with winds roaring 105 mph hit the Greene Crossing Shopping Center in Beavercreek at 5:16 p.m., said meteorologist Andy Hatzos.

Two people suffered minor injuries.

According to the AP, Beavercreek Police Captain Eric Grile says a pickup truck was thrown 60 yards from an adjacent Waffle House parking lot into the shopping center.

"There were obviously many vehicles that were moved from the store," Hatzos said Wednesday morning.

This was the only tornado that struck southwest Ohio, he added.

The Tri-State is under another slight risk for more severe weather with winds gusting 58 mph or more Wednesday afternoon and evening.
