WESTWOOD, OH (FOX19) -

A 39-year-old woman was resuscitated after suffering critical injuries in a residential fire on Gobel Avenue off Westwood  Northern Boulevard early Wednesday.

The woman was found not breathing in a bedroom at a two-family home about 6:30 a.m., said Sgt. Mike Miller of Cincinnati police's homicide unit.

She was resuscitated and taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, said Jennifer Spieser, a fire department spokeswoman. A few hours later, she was airlifted to a Columbus hospital.

Miller announced live on FOX19 NOW Morning News the woman had died, but she remains alive.

Two other people were home when the blaze broke out in a front living room. A painter who just happened to be driving by saw the smoke and flames and alerted them to the fire, Miller said.

The Good Samaritan went to the hospital to get checked for smoke inhalation.

The other residents escaped unharmed.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Miller said.

Arson investigators responded, which is customary in these cases.
