FOX 19 NOW has confirmed 15-year-old Nathanial Scott, Jr. who was shot and killed in Walnut Hills on Tuesday was in the custody of Hamilton County Jobs and Family Services.

You'll remember Scott was shot in the chest and the back near the corner of William Howard Taft and Park Ave. According to officials with JFS, Scott was in their custody when he was sent to a living facility out of Cincinnati.

According to Cincinnati Public Schools, Scott withdrew from classes in May of last year and was most recently enrolled in ABRAXAS School of Ohio, a treatment facility for adolescent men.

JFS says they recently learned Scott had ran away from the facility so JFS filed a runaway charge.

JFS is still under scrutiny for two more child deaths just this year. Police say 2-year-old Glenara Bates was starved and beaten to death by her own parents, while JFS workers had an active case on the family. JFS was also overseeing the care of 3-month-old Jaynaih Watkins who was allegedly stabbed and beheaded by her mother in March.
