WESTWOOD, OH (FOX19) -

Violence exploded in Cincinnati late Wednesday with a Riverside couple beaten, a Westwood homicide and an Avondale double shooting - all in just over two hours.

As shootings in the city approach a 10-year-high and authorities expecting a rough summer, a 23-year-old man was fatally shot in a bootleg cab.

Reginald Parker Jr. was a passenger in the taxi when he was shot by someone standing outside the vehicle about 11 p.m. in the 3600 block of McHenry Avenue in Westwood, according to Cincinnati police.

The cab driver drove Parker to Mercy Hospital West in Green Township, where he was airlifted to University of Cincinnati Medical Center. The victim was pronounced dead a short time later.

A 16-year-old male was charged with aggravated murder, police announced mid-morning Thursday. He was booked into the Hamilton County juvenile jail.

A motive in the attack was not disclosed.

Homicide investigators interviewed the cab driver but "we are not sure if (he) is being completely forthcoming as of yet," said Lt. Tim Brown, the night chief, earlier Thursday.

An hour earlier, a 61-year-old Riverside man, Stephen Snodgrass, was severely beaten with a wooden pole and left unconscious during a dispute with a neighbor in the 3900 block of River Road, court records show.

A second victim, Patricia Temke, was stabbed several times with the pole and beaten, but police say she is expected to recover.

Both went to UCMC. Snodgrass is listed in critical condition on life support and is not expected to survive, Brown said.

One of his neighbors, Michael Barnett, 48, was taken into custody and questioned overnight. Homicide investigators arrested him on two counts of felonious assault, and he was still covered in blood when he arrived at the jail by 4:30 a.m. Thursday.

Barnett is held without bond until a Friday morning arraignment.

Finally, a 15-year-old boy and a 37-year-old man were hit in a barrage of bullets during a drive-by shooting as they stood in a small crowd of two to three other people about 9:30 p.m. in the 800 block of Blair Avenue in Avondale.

The man is listed in critical condition at UCMC with gunshot wounds to his right hip, left arm, left left and chest.

The teen was hit in the right forearm and right bicep. He is expected to recover at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.

A description of the gunman and vehicle are not known, Brown said.

No arrests were made.
