Covington celebrates 200th birthday during All-Star Week

COVINGTON, KENTUCKY (FOX19) - With a little over a month away from the All-Star game in Cincinnati, several activities are planned for the week of
the event.

Not all are limited to the Cincinnati side of the Ohio River.

Covington is planning a six-day event celebrating its 200th birthday.  

One of the biggest features during the Cov200 Summer Celebration will be a carnival like area along Covington Landing. 

It will feature a 50-foot Ferris wheel, giant fun slide, live music, food and more.

As part of the event, historic home tours and neighborhood celebrations are scheduled for July 11.

A family "Bike Centennial" bike ride and a Bark-centennial dog parade and contest will happen July 12.

Several other activities will be announced during a June 4 news conference. 

Cov200 is still looking for vendors, entertainers and volunteers.

Festivities will begin at 6 p.m. July 9 and run through July 14.  Hours will be 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

It will be hosted on the Covington Landing and in the RiverCenter Boulevard area between Scott Boulevard and Madison Avenue.
