CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Cincinnati Police Chief Jeffrey Blackwell talked to City Manager Harry Black about resigning, according to city spokesperson Rocky Merz.

However, when the papers drawn up, the chief then decided not to leave and the matter was dropped, Merz said.

Councilmember Yvette Simpson responded to the news reports about Cincinnati Police Chief Jeffrey Blackwell by saying.

"I support Police Chief Jeffrey Blackwell 100 percent. I value his short-term and long-term approaches to addressing the crime in our community; he is the right chief to lead at this time."

No word when this took place, or what motivated Chief Blackwell to make these comments.
