Police ID body found in Ohio River in Campbell Co.

CAMPBELL COUNTY, KY (FOX19) -

Authorities have identified the male's body that was discovered in the Ohio River in Campbell County.

The body has been identified as a 47 year old man who was reported missing from the Louisville area on May 30.  Investigators from Louisville and Campbell County were able to determine positive identification through medical records, scars, and information given on the missing person.

His name has not been identified at this time due to notifications to the family.

According to the Campbell County Police Department, a barge carrying coal was headed up stream on the Ohio River around 12:35 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. A crew member spotted the body wedged between the coal barges.

Officials say the Captain immediately notified authorities and stopped the barge in the Oneonta area near California. 

Responding crews were able to recover the body. 

Officials still haven't been able to determine where the man went into the river or how he came into contact with the barge.
