14-year-old succumbs to injuries after being shot in the head

HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) -

The 14-year-old that was shot in the head after playing with a gun with another teen inside a Hamilton home Wednesday succumbed to his injuries Friday.

Hamilton police said they responded to the incident on Fairview Avenue near Benninghofen around 1:30 p.m. 

The gun accidentally discharged as the teens played with it, striking the 14-year-old in the head.

The teen was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center by AirCare. He succumbed to his injuries Friday.

A 16-year-old was charged with assault, tampering with evidence and discharging a firearm within city limits, police said.

He is held at Butler County's juvenile jail.
