Three people were shot in two separate incidents in Cincinnati Wednesday.

All have non-life threatening injuries and are expected to recover, police said.

Two victims were found just before 4 p.m. on Hale Avenue near Reading Road in Avondale.

One of the men was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center; the second victim, 20, went to Cincinnati Children's Hospital.

About six hours later in neighboring Walnut Hills, two men argued and punched each other on Kemper Lane near East McMillan Street, said Lt. Tim Brown, the night chief.

One of them, who is in his 20s, left, returned with a pistol and shot the other man, 56, in the right shoulder.

The gunman fled the scene and remains at large.

It's not clear what sparked the dispute. Police said the victim claims he doesn't know his attacker.

The shootings come as Cincinnati experiences the highest number of shootings in a decade.

More than 50 officers are being pulled from specialty units and other assignments and put on patrol in an effort to reduce violence, a  police department spokeswoman announced Wednesday.
