Shooting victim drives to hospital

WESTWOOD, OH (FOX19) -

A 22-year-old shooting victim drove himself to the hospital late Thursday, Cincinnati police said.

The driver told investigators he gave a ride to a man he did not know about 10:15 p.m. on Harrison Avenue near Werk Road, said Lt. Tim Brown, the night chief.

Shortly after the man got into the vehicle, the driver said he realized his passenger had a gun. Then,the passenger pointed the gun at his head and demanded all his property.

The driver jumped from the car and said the gunman also hopped out, shooting him in the shoulder.

The gunman fled. The driver told police he got back into the car and drove to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he is expected to recover.

Police say the man is not fully cooperating with their investigation, which remains ongoing.

Police responded to a Westwood shooting Thursday night.

The shooting occurred on Harrison Avenue at Werk Road at around 10:15 p.m.

According to officials, one person was shot in the shoulder and the victim may have got in a car and driven off.  

No word on the victim's condition.
