Springfield Twp SWAT standoff suspect surrenders after five hours

SPRINGFIELD TWP, OH (FOX19) - A SWAT standoff is over after a suspect barricaded himself inside an apartment for five hours on Friday morning.

Police arrived at the Pleasant Run apartment complex, located off Pleasant Run Road and Mill Road, about 5:45 a.m. after a woman went to a neighbor's apartment and said she was assaulted.

When officers arrived, the man refused to come out. 

The suspect surrendered around 11:30 a.m. Police said they believe he was asleep and likely under the influence during the standoff. He walked out of the building after flash bangs were set off. 

He has not been identified.

Residents in the building say they were evacuated.
