PLEASANT RIDGE, OH (FOX19) -

Three people and a dog were found dead inside a Pleasant Ridge home Friday.

Officials responded to Abbottsford Street near Knight Avenue at around 12:30 p.m.

According to police, the residents and the dogs died because of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Cincinnati Homicide Sgt. Mike Miller that the victims were running a portable generator in the basement because they had no electricity and the carbon monoxide fumes killed the residents and a dog.

It was originally reported that a second dog had died. SPCA discovered that the dog was barely breathing when making the removals and once it was outside began breathing on its own
