SILVERTON, OH (FOX19) - An argument between two women erupted into gunfire that send one of them to the hospital with critical injuries Wednesday, authorities said.

Jamie L Mincy, 21, was shot in her upper chest in the 6000 block of West Fordham Place at Cedarwood Place about 6 p.m.

She was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where she is listed in critical but stable condition.

Investigators with the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office say an argument between Mincy and Clarese Tolder, 30, escalated into a physical confrontation.

The dispute revolved around a child custody issue between Mincy and Tolder's current boyfriend, who also was present, court records show.

Tolder confessed to pulling a .38-caliber revolver from her boyfriend's shorts pocket and firing one shot, striking Mincy in the chest, records state. Her boyfriend, Joseph Evans III, also told authorities he witnessed the attack.

Tolder was booked into the county jail on a felonious assault charge.

Evans was arrested on one count of carrying a concealed weapon.

Both were held overnight without bond and are scheduled to face a judge Thursday morning.
