FAIRFIELD, OH (FOX19) - A Fairfield woman was charged with making false alarms after she told police that an unknown person stole her vehicle with her child inside late Friday night.

Martisha Ross contacted Fairfield police at approximately 11:04 p.m. saying that she was driving on Ross Road with her young child in the back seat. Ross reported that an unknown person jumped in the driver's seat and stole her vehicle with the child inside after she pulled to the side of the road and left her vehicle to look for cell phone, leaving the keys in the ignition.

Officers investigated the event as a stolen vehicle and abduction.

The child was found at a relatives house in Cincinnati at approximately 12:40 a.m., officials say. Ross was driving to the address by Fairfield officers and reunited with the child.

An investigation revealed that a vehicle theft and abduction had not occurred as reported by Ross, according to police.  The investigation showed Ross and her husband were involved in a domestic dispute and that the husband left in the vehicle with the child inside.

She was released from jail after being charged with making false alarms.
