Man arrested in shooting investigation hoax

NORTH AVONDALE, OH (FOX19) -

A man is under arrest after Cincinnati police determined a shooting investigation was really a hoax.

Officers responded to a 3 a.m. report from Norwood police they received a call about a shooting inside an apartment on Reading Road between Asman Avenue and Debbe Lane.

When police arrived, they surrounded the building and attempted to make contact with someone in the apartment, but no one opened the door.

About 45 minutes later, a man inside was taken into custody on an obstruction charge.

Police said no shooting victim was found and the shooting report was a hoax.

Reading Road was briefly shut down in the area, but it has since reopened.

The suspect's name was not released.
