Moscot needs surgery, likely done for season

Three days after Reds rookie right-handed pitcher Jon Moscot dislocated his left shoulder, Reds manager Bryan Price told reporters the 23-year-old will need surgery and it's "probable" he won't return to the rotation in 2015.

Moscot started three games for the Reds with a 1-1 record and 4.63 ERA before being placed on the 15-day disabled list after injuring his shoulder.

“I think it would be optimistic to say he'll be back pitching [in 2015],” said Price. “The good news is, it's something that he has to do to create stability in the shoulder and he may as well do it now.”

Moscot is the fourth Reds starting pitcher sidelined with an injury this season and the second, along with Homer Bailey, to require extensive season-ending surgery.
