All-Star Vote: Frazier moves to 2nd among NL third basemen

Todd Frazier has taken over second place in the National League third base vote.

Frazier (4,308,446 votes) trails St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter (5,504,534 votes) by just over 1 million votes. In last week's update, Frazier trailed Carpenter by 2.5 million votes.

Frazier, a 2014 All-Star, is bidding for his first career fan election. If Frazier is able to surpass the Cardinals' third baseman, he would join Tony Perez, Pete Rose and Chris Sabo as the only Reds third basemen to earn a fan election.

Frazier is batting .292 on the season with 23 home runs, 20 doubles, 48 RBI and 50 runs. he is the only player in Major League Baseball with at least 20 homers and 20 doubles this season.

Reds first baseman Votto is in third place among NL first basemen. Votto trails top vote-getter Arizona's Paul Goldschmidt by over 3 million votes.

Brandon Phillips is currently fourth among second basemen, trailing first place by 3 million votes.

Injured Reds shortstop Zack Cozart is fifth in NL shortstops.

Participants can vote a total of 35 times. Voting ends July 2 at 11:59 p.m.
