CINCINNATI (FOX19) -

The Ohio Law Enforcement Torch run is taking a different route this year.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run raises funds and awareness for the Special Olympics Ohio.

The run typically starts at Cincinnati Police District 1 and then heads to Springdale, but that route was altered in light of the shooting death of Officer Sonny Kim. Officials said they wanted to allow CPD officer the chance to grieve and focus on funeral arrangements.

Kim will be laid to rest on Friday.

The run starts at 10 a.m. from the Springdale Recreation Center at 11999 Lawnview Avenue.

It will then head to West Chester Police Department, located at 9577 Beckett Road in West Chester Township.

Organizers of the Torch run are also making this event a tribute to Officer Kim and his family.

Any law enforcement and their families are welcome to join. Learn more here.
