OVER-THE-RHINE, OH (FOX19) - Cincinnati Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Over-The-Rhine Friday.

The shooting happened at Orchard and Main streets at around 4:30 p.m.

Officials say while on patrol, Police Specialist Shawn Smith and Police Officer Phillip Van Cleve observed an individual on foot involved in a drug transaction with the driver of a motor vehicle.

After the officers exited their vehicle, the individual on foot, identified as Furious Carney, 18, fled westbound on Orchard Street with a visible gun in his hand.

Authorities say the officers pursued Carney northbound onto Goetz Alley where he began to turn toward Specialist Smith with the gun still in his hand and Smith fired one shot striking Carney.

Carney was transported to University of Cincinnati Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Officials charged Carney with felonious assault, carrying a concealed weapons and having weapons under disability. He also had an open felony drug warrant out of northern Kentucky, officials said.
