All-Star flowers welcome visitors

With All Star week quickly approaching work is underway to spruce up the ballpark.

Over the last few days crews have been working to add flowers, including planter boxes and a new living garden to the gates of Great American Ballpark.

The wall is made up of more than 9,400 individual plants and will be 9-feet-tall and over 110-feet-long.

The Reds designed the look of the wall, including the All Star logo, a mustache, pill box hat and stars.

“The living wall really came out of wanting to do a huge fountain features in Crosley Terrace," said Phil Castellini, Reds' Chief Operating Officer. "We couldn’t afford that, so with the help of Evans Landscaping we came up with the green initiative."

Each of the plants were locally grown at Greenfield nursery specifically for this project over the last few months.

Crews expect to complete the project on  Wednesday.
