CINCINNATI (FOX19) - Cincinnati Reds fans tried their part to get pitcher Johnny Cueto into the 2015 MLB All-Star Game, but Cueto fell short of making that final spot.
Cueto, a starting pitcher, lost to St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Carlos Martinez in the MLB Final Vote. He fell to second place on Friday morning and had previously been ahead the four other candidates vying for the final spot on the National League roster.
As of Friday at 8 a.m., Martinez topped the extremely tight NL race. Fans have voted a record-setting 92 million times during the Final Vote period, according to MLB. No word on how many votes Martinez won by.
Todd Frazier and Aroldis Chapman will represent the Reds in the All-Star Game only on FOX19 NOW on Tuesday.
