BUTLER COUNTY, OH (FOX19) - Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones stated Thursday that he agrees and supports Donald Trump on his immigration stance, according to a statement from the sheriff's spokeswoman.
Donald Trump released a statement that he feels Mexico is the largest suppliers of heroin, cocaine and other drugs to the United States. According to the Associated Press, he made it clear that he is not targeting Mexico or the people from Mexico who are in the United States legally; it is those who are here illegally.
"I have said this same thing since I was elected Sheriff of this County, close the borders. We have a tough time trying to take care of the citizens of the United States that need some sort of assistance. Why do we continue to allow anyone, who may have any number of criminal intentions, come into our country illegally? It's as ridiculous as sending our nation's homeless and hungry to the borders to hand out government subsidized food and benefits to those coming here illegally. Let's start with taking care of our citizens first." said Sheriff Jones, in a release.
Trump announced his presidential bid on June 16.
