BROWN COUNTY, OH (FOX19) - A Ripley resident caught what appears to be a funnel cloud on camera in Brown County Monday afternoon.
Donna Proctor says after the National Weather Service issued several severe weather warnings for her area she stepped outside to take a look. From her hilltop home off of Old US Highway 68, Proctor captured cell phone video of the potential tornado moving in the direction of Maysville.
"This is the first time I've actually caught one on video. I've seen another one drop down and go right back up but this is the first time I was able to catch on video," said Proctor. "I hollered for my husband to come look at it because he never believes me when I see stuff like that."
In the one minute video Proctor posted to Facebook you can hear a conversation between Proctor and her husband Jimmy.
"Do we need to be out of here?" he asks. "No. It's missing us. Look!"
"I just watched it drop down and immediately almost going right back up. It was pretty quick," said Proctor. "I don't mind seeing them. I like weather. I like the storms. I watch them come in and watch them as they go away. I don't mind seeing them. I just don't want them right on top of me."
The National Weather Service is reviewing Proctor's video along with any evidence of down trees in the area to determine whether the funnel cloud was in fact a tornado. The process could take several days.
