Devon Still: 'She told me to hold it down for her on stage'

FOX19 -

Cincinnati Bengal Devon Still and his 5-year-old daughter Leah will be honored with the Jimmy V Perseverance Award at Wednesday’s ESPYS awards show in Los Angeles.

In an Instagram post Tuesday morning, Still said Leah is unable to join him in accepting the award.

“We are short one princess but unfortunately the doctors didn't give her the ok because her immune system is still weak. She told me to hold it down for her on that stage so that's what I'm going to do!” wrote Still.

Leah was released from the hospital last month after undergoing stem cell therapy treatment. She was diagnosed a year ago with a rare form of pediatric cancer and Devon announced in March that doctors said her cancer was in remission.

The father/daughter duo will receive the Jimmy V Award for the way they have handled her fight against cancer. Still drew drew national attention with her father's team donating $1 million from sales of his jersey to pediatric cancer research and treatment.
