DEARBORN COUNTY, IN (FOX19) -

A motorist died in a crash that shut down Interstate 275 for about two hours Wednesday morning, according to Dearborn County dispatchers.

Officials say Mark Ludman, 42, of Independence, was driving a tractor-trailer that was stopped in traffic on U.S. 50 waiting to cross the bridge into Kentucky on the Carroll Lee Cropper Bridge.  John Clark, 43, of West Alexandria, Ohio, was traveling in the same direction and rear ended Ludman.

AirCare was initially summoned when Clark's SUV slammed into the back of tractor-trailer, trapping him.

Fire crews worked for several minutes to try to extricate the man. Clark was pronounced dead at the scene of at 6:40 a.m., officials said.

No word if Ludman was injured.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
