2-alarm fire closes Fairfield eatery

FAIRFIELD, OH (FOX19) - A two-alarm fire swept through Family Traditions Cafe late Tuesday, closing the restaurant until further notice.

No one was hurt when flames broke out at 11 p.m., about 90 minutes after the owners left the building, said Fairfield Fire Chief Don Bennett.

The cause remains under investigation.

The restaurant's operators are optimistic they would reopen as soon as possible.

Family Traditions just opened its doors six months ago in a strip center off Magie Avenue and Ohio 4.

"We regret to inform all of our awesome customers that we will be closed until further notice due to a fire ( that was not caused by the kitchen) but don't worry! With everyone's support through this tough time we will be back!" reads the latest posting on the restaurant's Facebook page.

Customers said they were devastated.

"My husband and I just heard about this on the news. This was our Friday and Sunday breakfast spot every 2 weeks," wrote Carol Fitzpatrick in a response.
