NORTH BEND, OH (FOX19) -

A Cincinnati police officer was involved in a motorcycle accident Wednesday.

The crash happened at Three Rivers Parkway and Miami Avenue in North Bend just after 4 p.m.

Officials say Cincinnati police officer Christopher Thomas was traveling westbound on U.S. 50 on a 2008 Harley Davidson and came to a stop near Miami Avenue.  A 2000 Honda being operated by Danielle Whitener, 40, of Hooven, was also going westbound on U.S. 50, as she was approaching Officer Thomas, she failed to maintain an assured clear distance and struck the officer's motorcycle.

Officer Thomas was treated on scene by the Miami Township Fire Department and then later transferred to University Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Whitener was not injured.

Alcohol, drugs and speed were not factors in the crash.  Both Whitener and Officer Thomas were using safety equipment.

Whitener was cited for failure to maintain an assured clear distance ahead.
