Woman attempts to pass fake checks, leads police on 25 mile chase

SHARONVILLE, OH (FOX19) -

A woman suspected of trying to pass stolen checks is in custody leading police on a 25 mile chase Thursday afternoon.

Kelly Jo Popple, 39-year-old from Baraboo, Wisconsin, attempted to pass the checks at the PNC Bank on Reading Road in Sharonville around 2:45 p.m., police say.

Once officers arrived at the bank, Popple fled north on U.S. 42. The chase continued to eastbound I-275 for over 25 miles, according to the Sharonville Police Department. The pursuit came to an end after State Highway Patrol put down several stop sticks.

Popple was taken into custody. No one was injured in the incident. She is charged with felony counts of Forgery, Receiving Stolen Property, Failure to Stop, Criminal Tools and Identity Theft.  

Popple's bond was set at $300,000 Friday.
