EDGEWOOD, KY (FOX19) - A runaway teenage girl missing since Friday was located overnight and is safe, Edgewood police said early Wednesday.
Bonita Hawks, 13, borrowed a phone about 2 a.m. and called Cincinnati police to turn herself in at the Shell gas station at Hopple Street and Colerain Avenue, said Edgewood Police Chief Tony Kramer.
Police feared she was in danger and with a man between 25-to 30-years-old after meeting him through social media. Officials say she was seen getting in a dark car.
She was taken to Homewood Bound, a runaway shelter in Northern Kentucky, and is undergoing police interviews Wednesday.
