A petition has been launched in Grant County in effort to make countywide alcohol sales legal in the county.
The 'End Grant County County Prohibition Initiative' is asking for Grant Co. residents to sign the petition so the issue can be put on the ballot. The initiative is asking voters to approve the sale of alcoholic beverages at bars, restaurants, liquor, grocery and convenience stores throughout the county.
For the issue to be put on the ballot, the county needs 25 percent of all votes cast in the last county election. That means the petition needs 1,613 signatures must be collected.
“We are putting this in the hands of the voters of Grant County,” said Dry Ridge resident Darren Spahr who is helping lead the petition drive. “The people should decide this issue, and we believe they will support it.”
