HEBRON, KY (FOX19) - Cheapflights.com ranked Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport as the nation's cheapest airport in their latest report, it ranked number 77 on the list in 2014.
The average price now out of CVG is $199, according to the annual report. Last year, $437 was the average price,
The development is a dramatic about-face for the airport, which ranked the nation's most expensive for years, most recently in 2013 and 2014, according to federal transportation data.
CVG officials credit the change to the new additions of Allegiant and Frontier airlines.
The low cost carriers are filling the planes, and travelers are booking tickets through them.
Last week, Allegiant announced it will operate a hub out of CVG with three planes. Service will start in January.
The second cheapest airport on the list was Atlanta-Hartsfield Jackson Airport.
