A high bond of $1.5 million was set Tuesday for a 27-year-old man accused of gunning down a father trying to protect his son from a brutal beating.
Brandon Overstreet is held at the Hamilton County jail on one count each of murder and felonious assault.
According to Cincinnati police, Overstreet hit and seriously injured Timothy Bynum Jr. several times with a handgun on his face, head and body on Elberon Avenue about 11 a.m. Friday.
Bynum's father, Timothy Bynum Sr., came to his son's defense, but that's when police say Overstreet shot him.
Bynum Sr. was found on the ground when police and fire crews arrived.
He was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
