SWITZERLAND CO., IN (FOX19) - One person died and three others were hurt in a single-vehicle crash in southeastern Indiana late Thursday.
Rescue crews responded when a vehicle ran off Markland Pike and slammed into a tree just before midnight, said Switzerland County Sheriff Nathan E. Hughes in a prepared statement.
Four victims were inside. One was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another was trapped and had to be extricated by firefighters.
That person and a third occupant of the car were flown in a medical helicopter to University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
The fourth person inside the car was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
The victims names, ages and conditions were not released.
