Video: Cincinnati officer appears to sleep in cruiser

WATCH: Officer caught sleeping in viral video

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - A Cincinnati cop could be in hot water after a viral Facebook video shows what appears to be an officer sleeping inside a marked cruiser.

A police spokesperson said the department is aware of the video and that an investigation is underway.  Officers are not allowed to sleep in the cruiser for any reason, whether they are on duty or off, according to that official.

A man can be heard on the video saying "we in the Fay" and being on "Nottingham". A FOX19 NOW analysis showed the buildings in the video match the design of buildings on Nottingham Road at The Villages at Roll Hill. The Villages at Roll Hill were formally known as The Fay Apartments.

It's not clear if the unidentified officer was on duty patrolling or working a detail for the apartment complex.

"Details of the results of the investigation will be forthcoming," said Police Chief Jeffrey Blackwell.

The video has received more than 30,000 views on Facebook.

FOX19 NOW will update the story as it develops.
