Lumenocity: My rooftop view

My husband and I live in Over-the-Rhine and we’re often told stories about the neighborhood and its blighted past.

And while it’s hard to imagine our street as anything but savory, I’m grateful for the renaissance it’s going through and happy to be part of it.

We only know this community as diverse, progressive and, let’s face it, a lot of fun. I’m going broke trying all the new restaurants and love walking around Washington Park to see the familiar faces of our neighbors.

Since we moved in last December I’ve heard repeatedly about the one-of-a-kind light show ‘Lumenocity’ and our landlord told us we could see about
70 percent of the display from our rooftop balcony.

So, this weekend we opened our townhouse up to friends and coworkers for the epic ‘Lumenocity’ and it did not disappoint.

We picked up Goodfella’s pizza, corked some good wine and polished it all off with The BonBonerie sweets (my favorite indulgence).

We tuned in the LIVE radio broadcast Friday night to make the show more impactful for our guests, but when we watched alone Saturday night we could hear the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra clearly (less talking I, assume).

I nearly had my husband pinch me during the show; to be surrounded by friends and beautiful weather in the heart of the city was nearly too much.

Only a year ago, we were uncertain of where our future was headed and we feel truly blessed to be part of the magic that is OTR.

I looked around and witnessed dozens of other people perched on their roofs watching the show.

The ‘Lumenocity’ theme was so poignant for us, Masters and Dreamers summed up how we felt this weekend.

And we look forward to another magical night on the roof next year!
