Western & Southern Open Guide

MASON, OH (FOX19) -

The world's best in tennis will be in Mason for the Western & Southern Open. The W&S is one of the five events in the world outside the Grand Slam tournaments where the top ATP World Tour and WTA players compete during the week at the same venue.

The event is highlighted by both men's and women's singles and men's and women's doubles matches.

Dates: Aug. 15 through Aug. 23.

Location and Parking: Getting to the Lindner Family Tennis Center is easy. Enter the address below into your and once you're close our many highway and street signs will lead you to the appropriate parking lot. Free Parking is included with every ticket.

Tickets:  Tickets are still available and can be purchased at cincytennis.com or ticketmaster.com.

The field: Both men's and women's world number ones, Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic, will be in Cincinnati for the tournament.  Djokovic, has appeared in the Western & Southern Open final four times, but has never won.

Roger Federer, a six-time champion in Cincinnati, will be joined in the men's field by every player in the Top 40 of the ATP World Tour rankings, including two-time winner Andy Murray and 2013 champion Rafael Nadal.

Other notable women's players are: Maria Sharapova, Caroline Wozniacki, Eugenie Bouchard, Venus Williams, Sloane Stephens, Petra Kvitova and Simona Halep.

Match and Promotion Schedule: The times below are when the sessions start 

Saturday, Aug. 15

Men's and women's qualifier, 10 a.m.

  • Graeter's Kids Day: Starting at 9 a.m., kids of all skill sets are welcome and to participate in on-court drills and games and off-court activities.

Sunday, Aug. 16

Men's and women's qualifier; men's main draw, 10 a.m.

Men's main draw, 7 p.m.

  • High School Day: High school students can get on-court training sessions, a free Skyline Chili lunch and all the matches during the day session. 

Monday, Aug 17

Men's and women's first round, 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.

  • Military and Uniformed Personnel Appreciation Day: Any military member or civic personnel showing a valid ID at the door receives a half-price ticket for the day or evening session. 

Tuesday, Aug. 18

Men's and women's first and second rounds, 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Wednesday, Aug. 19

Men's and women's middle rounds, 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Thursday, Aug. 20

Men's and women's round of 16, 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.

  • USTA Member Appreciation Day: USTA Members are invited to enjoy the afternoon in a reserved hospitality tent, take photos with the trophy, and experience an afternoon of world class tennis from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. In addition, all USTA members can enjoy discounted tickets on Monday, August 17 and Thursday, August 20 for both the day and evening sessions.

Friday, Aug. 21

Men's and women's quarterfinals, 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Saturday, Aug. 22

Both men's semifinal matches, 1 p.m.

Both women's semifinal matches, 7 p.m.

Sunday, Aug. 23

Doubles finals begin at 11:15 a.m. (Grandstand court)

Singles finals begin at 1 p.m. (Center Court) 

Music Lineup: American Idol contestant Jess Lamb is one of the many bands and musicians that will play the Dayton International Destination Stage over the week. Jared Schaedle and the Compound Fractures, Elk Creek, The Sunburners, Queen City Silver Stars, G. Burton Story, Shivering Timbers and the Greg Schaber Trio are just some other other names performing. Food: Patrons can enjoy some Tri-State favorites in the food court this year.  Graeter's Ice Cream, Taste of Belgium, Palomino, Tony's Steakhouse, Fusian Sushi, Hot Head Burrito, J. Gumbo's, Kala Greek Grill, Bada Budans,  Eli's Sports Bar and Grill, Subway, LaRosa's, Montgomery Inn and Skyline Chili will be available to make your stomach full.
