AURORA, IN (FOX19) -

Fire ripped through Aurora Lumber Company overnight, destroying a portion of the business and injuring two firefighters.

The firefighters were taken to Dearborn County Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation, Aurora's fire chief told reporters the scene.

The men are expected to recover.

No one was inside the business at 1055 Green Blvd. when flames broke out and began shooting through the roof about 11:45 p.m. Monday. The fire happened in a building previously used for retail, according to an Aurora Lumber Company worker. The office and retail store were not harmed in the fire.

Several fire agencies responded, including Aurora and Lawrenceburg, but the building collapsed early Tuesday. It was still smoldering at 5 a.m.

Fire officials declared the structure a total loss and estimated damage at $250,000.

Crews remain on the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The company was reportedly reopen for business on Wednesday.
