BOND HILL, OH (FOX19) - A 42-year-old motorist faces charges after Cincinnati police say he was speeding and impaired when he caused a crash that killed a 41-year-old woman overnight.
Phillip Young lost control of his 2007 Chevrolet Impala as it traveled north on Seymour Avenue just before 11 p.m. Wednesday. The car ran off the right side of the road and slammed into a utility pole, police said.
His front seat passenger was trapped in the car with life-threatening injuries. Fire crews extricated Ladonna Gann, 41, who was not wearing a seatbelt.
She was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where she died.
Young was treated at the hospital for minor injuries and released. He was charged with aggravated vehicular homicide and booked into the Hamilton County jail at 4:30 a.m. Thursday.
He is held without bond and is expected to face a judge Friday morning.
Speed and impairment from alcohol and/or drugs are factors in the crash.
