WEST CHESTER, OH (FOX19) – - Students returned to class at Lakota Local Schools Thursday without high school bus service.
The private bus service LBS announced two weeks ago they canceled their services this year because only 50 families signed up for transportation.
LBS says that's not enough people to justify the cost of doing business to students attending Lakota West and Lakota East high schools and a third school, the Freshman Building.
School officials say parents are looking into car pooling and changing work hours to make it work and with short notice.
LBS filled the gap back in 2011 after budget cuts forced the school to eliminate busing.
LBS says families can still sign up on its website and they will advise if and when rides resume to the high schools.
All busing for students in grades kindergarten through 8th is continuing as normal.
