GREEN TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -

Police say a motorist was high on drugs when she recklessly crashed her vehicle with a 5-year-old child in the backseat.

Jeanne F. Helmkamp, 58, is held at the Hamilton County jail in lieu of $10,000 bond. She faces several charges: child endangering, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, drug possession and speeding.

Police say a witness called 911 just after 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and reported Helmkamp's silver 2000 Honda Accord was recklessly speeding on Sidney Road.

The car hit a bus and a curb and almost slammed into a pole and a parked vehicle before coming to  a stop.

When police arrived, they determined she was under the influence and took her into custody.

A correction officer at the jail found two Ambien sedative pills in her bra during a search, court records show.

Helmkamp's connection to the child was not immediately clear. Police said they will provide more information Thursday afternoon.

The child is staying with another relative.
