COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) - A Grand Jury indicted two people on conspiracy and fraud charges for an alleged fake food stamp operation in Kentucky.
Rhonda Molesworth and Joseph Ciaramitaro's scheme netted more than $270,000 in fraudulent funds from 2008 until 2011, the federal lawsuit claims.
Molesworth worked for the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services as a support specialist for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
The suit states Molesworth issued fake SNAP benefit cards using the names and social security numbers of relatives, friends and past SNAP recipients. She would make fictitious entries into the accounts before mailing the cards to a rental property owned by Ciaramitaro.
Ciaramitaro delivered the cards and also "purchased several of the cards he delivered from Molesworth for 50 cents on the dollar," the suit says.
A grand jury indicted the pair on Thursday.
