PIQUA, OH (FOX19) -

A truck driver is praising an Ohio State Trooper whose life-saving actions were caught on dash cam video.

Don’t you die on me!” Trooper Eric Devers shouts in the powerful video posted to the Ohio State Patrol’s Facebook last week. Devers was the first on-scene after John Depue crashed his truck into a 60-foot embankment near Piqua, Ohio.

Depue and Devers were reunited via satellite Sunday in an interview with Fox and Friends. Depue said a medical incident caused him to black out and crash through the interstate guardrail.

“Trooper Devers found the driver belted in the driver’s seat, taking low, gasping breaths with eyelids half closed,” stated the OSP Facebook post. “After a short amount of time, the driver’s eyes rolled back into his head; he slumped over and quit breathing.”

In the video, he can be heard performing CPR on Depue. A passerby stopped to assist as Devers kept the victim upright and completed chest compressions.

“My mind went on autopilot and I kind of did what I had to do,” said Devers.

Medics arrived 12 minutes after Devers and Depue eventually became stabilized. He has since made a full recovery.

“I definitely think he was my angel that day,” Depue said after crediting Devers with saving his life.
