WESTWOOD, OH (FOX19) -

A 63-year-old mother shot her adult son to stop him from beating her and his father, Cincinnati police said.

Harold Gordon, 31, is accused of punching his parents several times in the head and face and choking his father, 63, at their residence in the 3300 block of McHenry Avenue just after 11 p.m. Sunday, court records show.

Fearing for her life, the mother shot Gordon.

He was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, treated and released.

Gordon was booked into the Hamilton County jail on domestic violence charges and was scheduled to appear Tuesday before a judge.

He has a history of violence.

He was convicted of aggravated assault against a girlfriend in 2007, court records show.

A 2005 assault charge was dismissed.
