Woman killed after being struck walking down I-275

ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - A fatal traffic crash occurred on I-275 just east of the Five Mile Road exit Friday evening in Anderson Township.

Shannon Jung, 43, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet westbound on I-275 in the right lane near milepost 68, reported Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Neil.

Police said she began to slow for traffic and was struck from behind a 2013 Hyundai, driven by Jillian Winland, 26.

The collision forced Jung's vehicle off the right side of the road and crossed the shoulder, according to police.

Officials reported that Jung's vehicle then struck Amy Steinmetz, 28, who was walking along the right shoulder of westbound I-275.

Jung and Winland were unharmed.

Steinmetz was transported by the Anderson Township Fire Department to Anderson Mercy Hospital where she was pronounced dead, said police.

According to authorities, alcohol and/or drugs were not factors in the crash.

The incident remains under investigation by the Sheriff's Traffic Safety Unit. Any witnesses to the crash are asked to call 513-825-1500.
