Family Dollar robbery suspect arrested

NORWOOD, OH (FOX19) -

A 61-year-old man faces charges in a weekend hold up at the Family Dollar store off Montgomery Road.

Michael Smith of Mt. Auburn is scheduled to go before a judge at 9 a.m. Monday on two counts of aggravated robbery.

According to court records, Smith entered the store Sunday, displayed a pocket knife and demanded money.

"This is a robbery, open your drawer now and give me all the bills," he told the clerk, according to a police sworn statement.

The clerk complied and gave him money from the cash register.

A witness to the offense followed him until police apprehended him.
