Man, 21, critically hurt in overnight shooting

AVONDALE, OH (FOX19) -

Cincinnati police are investigating two separate shootings early Wednesday.

Officers found a 21-year-old man critically hurt on the corner Mann Place at Reading Road about 12:30 a.m., said Lt. Tim Brown, the night chief.

The victim was shot in the abdomen during a street robbery on Reading Road near Glenwood Avenue and ran about a block before collapsing.

Police found multiple shell casings at the shooting location.

The victim was rushed to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he is undergoing surgery and fighting for his life.

Before he passed out, he was able to tell police he was shot by one of five men who fled the scene, Brown said.

Then, about 1:45 a.m. over in Northside, a 23-year-old man turned up in a gunshot wound to his upper leg on Lakeman Street off Blue Rock Street.

The victim is being uncooperative.

The shootings are not connected.
