BROWN COUNTY, OH (FOX19) - It's a murder mystery in Brown County that the family of Brittany Stykes would like over.
Friday night marked two years to the day she was killed along State route 68.
A vigil was held for the slain mother between Gooselick and Ripley Dayhill roads.
Fox 19 NOW was first to report Wednesday that police are close to arresting her killer.
That hope didn't do much for the family at the vigil attended by hundreds.
Her mother Mary and father David Dodson said they've been through this before and hope can be a double edge sword.
"Two years of ups and down hope. We need answers," Mary Dodson said. Her father found it tough to think about getting older on the anniversary of her death. " It's been a very emotional day," he said. "It's hard to celebrate [my] birthday on a day your daughter was murdered," he continued.
Brittany Stykes was shot in the head in August of 2013.
She was 17 weeks pregnant.
Her daughter was also shot in the head while sitting in the backseat and survived the attack.
The family said they are looking for answers. Not just for themselves, but for Brittany's daughter as well.
"Somebody took her and she wasn't theirs to take."
