Buddie, the new face of ResponsibleOhio's movement to legalize marijuana, visited the Queen City Tuesday as a growing number of opponents speak out against Issue 3.

The mascot in a white and green superman costume with a purple cape and "B" on his chest mingled on UC’s campus. Then, his 'Green a Rush Bus Tour' headed to Fountain Square.

Ohio voters will decide on Issue 3 in the Nov. 3 general election. If it passes, marijuana would be legal statewide for both medical and recreational use.

A growing coalition of voters have expressed concern about ResponsibleOhio’s regulation plan and network of 10 authorized growing locations. Opponents say it creates a monopoly for private vendors at the growing locations.

ResponsibleOhio filed a complaint in the Ohio Supreme Court after a board decided the word ‘monopoly’ would be used in the Issue 3 ballot language. The group claimed the word was misleading. However, Secretary of State John Husted said ‘monopoly’ is the best way to explain the outcome Issue 3 could create.

The so-called anti-monopoly or cartel measure will be known on the ballot as Issue 2. It seeks to ban monopolies from being added to the Ohio Constitution.

The Green Party and Ohio Chamber of Commerce have spoken out against Issue 3.
