Tri-State Catholics prepare for Pope

Catholics across the country and Tri-State are preparing to welcome Pope Francis to the United States later this month.

The Argentine pontiff, who became pope in 2013 and is focused on helping those in poverty, will be making stops in Washington D.C, Philadelphia and New York City.

Dioceses across the country are participating in special programs and initiatives.

The Cincinnati diocese is holding  a massive food drive with items collected going to St. Vincent de Paul.

Called the ‘Food for All’ campaign, the goal is to collect a million items of food that will help with the Pope’s goal of ending worldwide hunger by 2025.
Over  local 100 parishes, schools and organizations are participating in the drive. Currently, they’re about 53 percent of the way to their goal with just under three  weeks to go.
To help close that gap, a 5K/obstacle run and food drive will be held 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at Summit Park in Blue Ash.

Participants will get a discount by bringing a food item to donate and can register on site.
