In the midst of officers getting attacked and in some cases killed, A Boone County constable is holding a prayer vigil this Labor Day in a movement to show more support for those officers.
Joe Kalil plans to hold it at the Sheriff's office on 3000 Conrad Lane at the flag pole around noon.
"Watching the news this the last week and seeing all the murders, the targeted murders of law enforcement, I was moved to organize a prayer gathering," said Kalil.
"As a community, we will pray for all emergency services personnel," he continued. "We are told that all that want to come are invited and the event is not just for Boone County residents. The event is meant to increase awareness about the dangerous job officers do every day."
On this Labor Day before many of us go see the fireworks, Kalil wants people meet up around noon at the Boone County sheriff's office. He said the men and woman and blue who put their lives on the line could use a prayer these days.
"We are hoping to change some minds or at least show law enforcement that the support of the people is out there for them," Kalil said.
